I was asked by a friend Katie, if I could use a shirt that belonged to her late father, to make a bear for her Mum for Christmas.
The shirt was a favourite of Katie’s Dad’s so her Mum had kept in the wardrobe since he had passed away. The shirt held happy memories for the family. Katie thought that it might look a little too plain, I assured her that it would look lovely with a few finishing touches.
I decided to use the detail from the shirt cuff on the bottom of the legs. Katie’s Mum is Irish so I also bought some Celtic Knot buttons and some emerald green ribbon to use to trim the ears and finish it in a bow around the neck.
An embroidered Shamrock motif sewn onto the foot of the bear was a perfect finishing touch!
The other foot was personalised with the letter beads.
Both myself and Katie were very happy with the end result
What a perfect Christmas present for her Mum, that can be cherished for ever!
Katie said her Mum was so delighted with her ‘John’ bear that she shed a few tears, happy tears though!
